Crossed Perspectives: Synthesis Of Qualitative Studies In Several Disciplines

Abstract

In recent years, there has been a growing recognition of the value of interdisciplinary approaches in academic research. This recognition stems from an understanding that complex phenomena often require insights from multiple disciplines to be fully understood. In this article, we explore the concept of "crossed perspectives" as a means of synthesizing qualitative studies from various disciplines. Crossed perspectives refer to the process of integrating insights, methodologies, and theories from different disciplines to gain a more comprehensive understanding of a particular phenomenon.We begin by discussing the rationale behind using qualitative methods in interdisciplinary research, highlighting the strengths and limitations of this approach. We then introduce the concept of crossed perspectives and provide a framework for its implementation. This framework involves identifying common themes or concepts across different qualitative studies, comparing and contrasting findings, and integrating insights to develop a more nuanced understanding of the phenomenon under study.
